TCPS Licenses Go Electronic

As some of you have already noticed the Texas Commission on Private Security has been making inroads into making its licensing information and processes available in more ways. Senate Bill 1152 was passed during the 78th Legislative Session that mandated that certain named occupational licensing agencies make licensing of the professionals they regulate available to the general public via the Internet. The Texas Commission on Private Security was covered under this legislation and is complying with this mandate.

The Texas Commission on Private Security currently offers their licensees the opportunity to renew an occupational registration/license online via www.TexasOnline.com, the official website of the State of Texas. The agency accepts registration/license renewals 60 days prior to that licenses expiration. Fees can be paid using a major credit card or electronic check. A printable receipt is made available for your records. Your request will be processed and a license mailed to you within 30 business days. Currently, you can renew all individual registrations online. Businesses or Facilities will be able to renew their registrations/licenses by May of 2004. Also planned for December 2004, is the ability to submit applications for new registrations/licenses for both individuals and businesses.

To renew your individual license, you will need the following information:
  • License Number
  • Last four digits of your Social Security number

It will only take a few easy steps to do this, which are:

  • Visit www.TexasOnline.com
  • Select the Occupational and Professional Licenses section of the portal
  • Select your license type
  • Login to the application with the information above
  • Review and update your information, if necessary
  • Answer required questions
  • Submit payment
  • Print your receipt

Its fast, easy, and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. It will be great for all who take advantage of it.
