Security Officer
of the
Year

RBH Security of El Paso nominates
Ray B. Hernandez Jr. for the Texas Security Officer of the Year award. Mr. Hernandez has been at the company since it started back in 1983. He has always been a very professional individual and a great asset to this facility. Mr. Hernandez is always there for us when we need him, 24/7, and is a very proud, excellent, and honorable employee.
Twin City Security of Houston nominates Harold
Craft: He has worked for our company for 19 years, during which time he has only been absent 4 days. He works six days a week, 80 to 85 hours. We receive nothing but compliments on his work. He always has a great attitude.
En Garde Protective of Houston nominates Bob
Grayson. Bob is a uniformed officer at an industrial facility and has been the lead officer since 1994. He is the only officer to attain an Advance Security Certification at the plant which includes every phase of their Loss Prevention and Safety Programs. He has exceptional skills in training and leadership and as a result the officer turnover rate there is at the lowest level in our industry. During his tenure, he has performed his duties with such diligence and consistency that he has, without a doubt, averted many potential losses for the client. In addition he has intervened in numerous workplace violence situations. Our client considers Grayson to be one of their greatest assets in their safety and security programs. Bob arrives at work early, has never been late or missed a work shift. He has always willingly worked extra hours anytime we have asked, and always volunteers when he detects a schedule problem. Grayson is one of the finest in our industry and any security company or client would be pleased to have him in their employ.
Shannon Williams, Sr. came to work part time for
All State Guard Service, Inc. in Houston in 1997, but soon became a full time employee. He is a supervisor's dream officer: prompt and on time to work, neat as a pin in his uniform, congenial with both clients and peers, rarely absent and never absent without plenty of notice, and always willing to step in for an extra shift in an emergency. In over five years, we have not had a single complaint on his work and have had multiple compliments. We are proud to have Officer Williams representing All State Guard Service, Inc. as our nominee for Texas Security Officer of the Year.
Captain Larry Moore has been with
Security Professionals of Texas in Houston for almost 20 years. He has always gone above and beyond the call of duty. If we were ever in a pinch we always knew who to call. Captain Moore is definitely a role model for all of our employees and others in this industry.
Texas Industrial Security of Dallas nominates
Jerry Baker. Baker has managed to arrest individuals on three different occasions that were attempting to steal and or vandalize vehicles. Each time the police responded to this officers radio call for assistance and made an arrest. All arrests were legal and done in a professional manner, and the officer was praised by the police each time. Baker has also made recommendations to the client that were implemented and which improved the physical security of the post. Officer Baker was awarded officer of the month by TIS and is in contention for the companys officer of the year.
Nominee
Juan Cortez of San Antonio came to work for
HVP as one of their first officers almost 5 years ago, at one of their first contracts. I remember pulling up on post, finding Juan standing in the rain watching cars in the parking lot of an IHOP. Charles Talbert, Juans boss, says he really felt bad because he was coming to tell him his relief had called off. Charles was going to ask if he could stay, but before he could ask, Juan volunteered, and stayed to complete the shift. He has always been there for HVP and is always going above and beyond what ever he is asked to do. Juan is a great asset to the
company.
FNG Security and Investigations of Corpus Christi nominates
Fidel Garcia, Jr., as their security officer of the year. He is a good employee, dependable and honest. He has been a reserve deputy for over fifteen years, and a captain for more than eight years. He likes to stay on top of all types of training, both as a peace officer and a security officer. He holds level 4 certification from TCPS and is a good investigator. Once he gets on a case, he stays with it until it is resolved. He is an all round good
individual.
Barton Protective Services of Austin says that
Jimmy Martinez is the consummate security officer, always vigilant, and always ready to help. His customer service skills are without peer and he is the hardest working security officer Barton Protective Services in Austin has on payroll. Jimmy has mastered the lobby duties for a large corporate office building that houses both manufacturing and the office of the vice president. For the employees of this building, the Cheers motto of "where everybody knows your name" is a reality when it comes to security. Jimmy has been on-site for over five years, his tenacity to get the job done and done right speaks volumes of his integrity. This "can do" attitude and winning desire to please, is what makes Jimmy Martinez an outstanding candidate for the Texas Security Officer of the Year.
Ruiz Protective Service Inc. of Dallas nominates
Thomas Ivey. Officer Iveys actions during an armed conflict while on duty last May probably saved someone else from getting seriously injured or killed. He was commended by Ruiz Protective Service for his actions and they believe he would make an outstanding Texas Security Officer of the Year.
Smith Protection (Houston branch) nominates commissioned officer
Hober Reyes, employed since 1999. August 16 while on routine patrol, Officer Reyes came up on a vehicle accident scene. A motorist had failed to navigate a curve in the street, lost control of his vehicle and hit a fence. The vehicle burst into flames and was blazing when Officer Reyes first saw it. The driver was knocked unconscious on impact and was slumped behind the steering wheel. Officer Reyes pulled the driver out of the vehicle and out of harms way. He waited with the injured driver while awaiting the arrival of police and paramedics. His quick thinking and reaction saved a life.
Aramco Services Companys nominee is
Tracy Allen, a three year employee. His supervisor says he is a valuable asset to the security department and is highly motivated. He has developed job descriptions, written award letters, and is a trainer for the officers. Through his own initiative, he has made many suggestions which have been put into place by management. He compiles data for their monthly trend analysis and was recently promoted to backup
supervisor.
