DALLAS LEAPS
By Keith Allen, DPD Liaison

The Law Enforcement and Private Security program has elected its 2011 board members. Lisa George of Weiser Security Services, Inc. is the chairperson and brings a wealth of industry experience to the position. Cary Greene of Dean Security Inc., is the vice chairperson.

Marieta Oglesby and Greg Roberts of Able Security Inc., will serve as treasurer and secretary respectively. The program will begin posting reports on the website, www.leaps.us. The remaining quarterly meeting dates are; Aug. 8 and Oct. 4. The meetings will begin at 11 a.m. and should last about 90 minutes. They will be held in the Media Conference Room, 2nd Floor, Dallas Police Headquarters, 1400 S. Lamar St., Dallas. Please join us.

The LEAPS program will be presenting a Meritorious Conduct Award at the 2011 ASSIST Security Symposium to the security professional who has demonstrated exemplary professional conduct during the past year. While this has been an annual award presented at the symposium, this year there will be an added monetary benefit to the recipient. Every day great work is being done by security professionals; the award is a small recognition of that work. Look for an email with details about the nomination process. Make plans to attend June 17 at the symposium.

Most of you are aware of the tragic event that occurred in Fresno which resulted in the death of Security Officer Sanchez. Those of us that choose to protect our neighbors are aware of the dangers associated with that choice. It is this shared danger that binds us together. This should remind each of us that any perceived differences are not as important as the shared sacrifice that we are asked to make. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the Sanchez family.

If you have any questions about the Dallas LEAPS program, especially if you dont receive information about nominating a deserving employee for the symposium award, contact me at [email protected]. I hope you will all be attending the symposium and will visit with me then. Thank you.
