ASSIST
Convention 2005 "Managing
Security in a
Changing World"
March 23 -
March 25, 2006
Omni Dallas Hotel Park West, Dallas TX
The
North Texas Region is challenging the security profession, the
members of ASSIST and itself to make this the most successful
convention ever. The theme of the Convention, Managing in a
Changing World, best describes the challenges and solutions that
will be presented in the Continuing Education Segment of the
convention. This years Convention will offer unique
Entertainment, Professional Education, and unparalleled food and
social events for all attendees. The Convention will be held at the OMNI
PARK WEST in Dallas (www.omnidallasparkwest.com).
The Omni Park Hotel is a 4-star hotel located in Farmers Branch, on
the Northern edge of Dallas. The meeting rooms, guest rooms, and
multimedia auditorium will provide luxurious accommodations for
members and their guests during this 3-day event.
The schedule has been revamped so that there are no early morning
8AM events, allowing for a more leisurely start to the day.
Continuing Education Credits have been expanded this year to provide
members with choices in what courses to take during each time slot.
In addition, the scope of education has been changed. Courses will
include Emmy Award Winning TV reporter Jeff Crilley (www.jeffcrilley.com),
who will present How to Obtain Favorable News Coverage. Matt
Hayes of Interquest of North Texas (www.interquestk9.com)
will conduct an interactive presentation on Detection Canines and
their capabilities. In addition, classes on Hiring Dos and
Donts, Sales & Marketing, and Use of Force will be presented.
Entertainment will feature a poolside reception Thursday evening
followed by a Casino Night. On Friday, an evening Gala including
dinner, drinks, and a live band will be held. A legislative luncheon
has been scheduled to allow you, the members, an opportunity to meet
and talk with the legislators who shape and control the future of
Texas. Convention 2005 will be a defining event in the future of
ASSIST and our profession -- be there or miss this exciting
opportunity, Managing in a Changing World.
The Annual ASSIST Membership meeting has been moved to Friday
afternoon to allow for a larger member participation. The
traditional Awards Luncheon has been changed to a more comfortable
evening event with dinner, drinks, a live band and dancing to
provide a memorable evening for everyone in attendance. Included in
the Friday evening Gala will be a Roast of Dave Scepanski,
our outgoing State President.
Several events will donate a portion of their proceeds to the Fallen
Officers Fund. The Fallen Officers Fund is a unique opportunity
to show your concern for the surviving families of Security Officers
Killed in the Line of Duty. Barring any tragedies before the
convention, the ASSIST Flag will be presented and displayed for the
first time.
