I'm
proud of what we accomplished in special session
(By Sen Steve Ogden) - BRYAN, Texas - People tend to discount
political rhetoric, but it's absolutely accurate to say the recent
special session of the Texas Legislature was historic. We resolved
some difficult and stubborn problems, and what we accomplished is
important to all Texans.
MOU signed to
authorize National Guard troops on border
(Gov. Rick Perry) - AUSTIN � Gov. Rick Perry recently signed the
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) authorizing the deployment of
National Guard Soldiers to the U.S.-Mexico border as part of
Operation Jump Start, under which the troops will support federal
border security officers.

Hurricane Conference attendees
(Gov. Rick Perry) - Gov. Rick Perry thanked the 1,300 attendees at
the Texas Hurricane Conference for their work during last year�s
devastating hurricane season, and praised local and state progress
in preparing for what is predicted to be another busy hurricane
season.
DPS raid nets guards
(Laredo Morning Times) - Twelve security guards were arrested at
several popular night spots as part of a three-day raid in Laredo.
Authorities with the Texas Department of Public Safety said Friday
that eight were impersonating a security guard, three were
unlawfully carrying a weapon and one was impersonating a peace
officer.

for impersonating cops
(Action 4 News) - A late night bust at a McAllen hotel lands three
men behind bars early Aug. 5. The three men were allegedly
impersonating cops and operating without a security guard license.

North Region holds
first Law Enforcement and Security Symposium 2006
The North Texas Region was privileged to hold the first Law
Enforcement and Security Symposium Aug. 23 at the Hilton Anatole in
Dallas. This exciting event was able to draw together more than 125
participants from law enforcement and security.
