In Memory of Ed
Clendenin, CPP
By Dave Parker, ASSIST Vice President
ASSIST and the security profession have suffered a great loss with the passing of Ed Clendenin in June 2004. Ed was a member of the Houston region and a great contributor to our efforts, particularly in the area of consulting. We will always remember Ed for his original thoughts.
Ed was not only active, and held office with ASSIST, he held lifetime memberships with ASIS International and the International Association of Professional Security Consultants. Ed was also a member of the Board of Directors of the IAPSC.
We knew Ed as the President of Losses Limited, Inc., but he spent five years with the Harris County Sheriffs Department, and over twenty-one years in retail loss prevention. He was also a security manager for AT&T and SBC for over 15 years. Throughout his career, Ed has been a guest lecturer with the Houston Police Academy, the University of Houston Criminal Justice Center, and for both the Houston and Pasadena Independent school districts.
A District Court Judge once said of Ed, I had some reservations as to whether he was going to meet the Daubert-Robinson test as an expert, but the further I went, my goodness, it would be hard to find anybody more of an expert than that fellow in this field.
Our deepest sympathies go out to his dear wife Trudy, and the Clendenin family.
Ed and his wife Trudy.
