A Heros Story
Dallas security officers quick response saves lives
The day could have been like any other day except it wasnt. Not for
Cpl. Brian Price, anyway. Thats because on May 27, 2004 Cpl. Price risked his life, saving unsuspecting victims from an intense fire that was ripping through their apartment building.
The call came over his radio, fire at an apartment complex in the heart of northeast Dallas. First on the scene, Cpl. Price knew he had to take immediate action or risk losing lives. And that is precisely what he did. Knocking on, and even kicking doors in when necessary, he warned residents that there was a fire and they had to get out immediately.
Out of the residents in the 22-unit building, three had been asleep and almost certainly would not have woken up in time without his alert. But Cpl. Prices quick thinking and courageous actions ensured that everyone got out safely, despite being confronted by a three-alarm fire that eventually burnt the entire building to the ground.
He had no regard for his own safety, explains T.J. DAquino, CEO of Crime Strike Inc., the security company for which Cpl. Price has worked for over the past two and a half years. He faced extreme personal risk yet put that aside to help people until the fire department arrived. That is the mark of a true hero.
For his heroism, Cpl. Price has been awarded a Security Commendation Award and was promoted to Cpl. ranking for his fast response and courage in the face of danger. During his employment at Crime Strike, Inc., he has also been a part of the agencys special Vickery Meadow Improvement District Patrol Division.
