ASSIST A Force in the Industrys Future

Since 1992, ASSIST has been the Lone Star States leading advocate and watchdog for the needs of security and investigation professionals just like you. Together, the members of ASSIST and our paid lobbyist we have impacted key legislation affecting the security profession. In 2003 alone, Texas Governor Rick Perry signed three ASSIST bills into law. These bills (HB 565, 1661, and 1769) provide tougher penalties for assaulting security officers, allow commissioned and trained security officers to carry the same amount of pepper spray as a police officer, and provide more venues for continuing education.

The cornerstone of ASSISTs foundation is its dedicated membership
We are men and women sworn to ensure the safety and protect the lives, property, and security of Texans, their families, and businesses. As a security and investigation professional, you have specific business needs. By joining ASSIST, you will benefit from vigorous legislative representation, professional development, and an ever-growing support network.

The Industrys Only Workers Compensation Safety Group in Texas
As an ASSIST member, you will have access to all of our programs, educational resources, benefits, and an exclusive insurance coverage package designed to maximize your savings and cut your expenses. Thanks to our partnership with Houstons El Dorado Insurance Agency, ASSIST members enrolled in the ASSIST Workers Compensation Safety Group (AWCSG) have earned a dividend for their safety performance for a second consecutive year. This is the only Workers Compensation Safety Group of its kind in Texas. The Groups benefits include: Texas most competitive rates available; a Return to Work Program to keep your companys performance at optimum productivity; access to safety programs and loss prevention experts to help you meet OSHA and TWCC regulations; the ability to receive dividends for Safe Group Performance; and much more.

Your initial savings alone should more than offset your membership investment. However, being a part of ASSIST is about more than just the money you will save. Its about knowing youre backed up by an organization that understands your needs firsthand and has the resources necessary to keep you up-to-date on the key legislation affecting you and your employees. Membership is about strength in numbers, because together we have accomplished more than we ever could have as individuals. Case in point our united effort has resulted in positive legislative changes for the security profession during the previous four years.

Be a Professional - Join ASSIST
ASSIST membership is also about having the opportunities to learn, grow professionally, and stay in touch with professional leaders via ASSISTs yearly conventions. These educational conventions are valuable opportunities to meet-face-to-face with the state and political officials who influence our profession. Our entertainment-filled conventions also provide access to leading vendors and sharp discounts on uniforms, communication items, Web sites, and free legal consultation for ASSIST members only. Another advantage of ASSIST Membership is the use of a Private Bulletin Board on the ASSIST Web site that provides up-to-date daily notices about our profession. ASSIST Members are benefit from having a voice in our state government. You will receive representation by Assist Board of Directors at quarterly hearings held in Austin by the Texas Board of Security.

For more information on the benefits of membership, please feel free to contact me personally. You can reach me at my El Paso, Texas office at (915) 751-6811 or on my cell phone at (915) 241-2669. You can also call our Membership Services Hotline at (832) 274-1079. To learn more about ASSIST, our services, and what we can do for you, please visit our World Wide Web site at www.assisttexas.org. We look forward to being your partner for business growth and support.

Sincerely,

Dave Scepanski
