Building Our Membership Base
ASSIST is a member-driven organization, and it is of paramount importance that we grow our membership base to increase revenues, improve profitability, accelerate cash flow
and enhance the quality of membership services. I recently initiated an aggressive marketing campaign targeting new security companies in Texas. Now I am asking each one of you to do your part... enroll at least one new member this year, and sign-up key-staff members as Associates, and sign up your Vendors as Vendors Members.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, dedicated and committed people can change an industry. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has!
ASSIST has been instrumental in driving legislative change to improve our industry. In 2003 we spearheaded the passing of laws, which impose strict penalties for assaulting a Security Officer, and for not returning uniforms and property belonging to security companies. Attend our Convention 2003 and be updated on all the new laws, learn about why we are moving over to Department Of Public Safety (DPS), and what our plans are for the future of the security industry and legislative activity.

Embrace Change
It is important to move forward and not get lost in the past. What worked ten years ago, or even two years ago, may now be old-hat... just consider the computer industry and the dot.com's. As you may have noticed the Board of Directors and I are developing and implementing a variety of improvement initiatives in a sincere effort to improve and build our organization. To stay successful and move ahead we must always look for ways to change for the better.

With your help and support we will create the largest and most powerful association of security professionals in Texas. The strength of ASSIST is the ability of many security industry professionals to achieve collectively what would be impossible to do individually. Please become involved in your organization.

Our annual convention is coming up soon ... September 25, 26, and 27th. The San Antonio Chapter has worked very hard to make this year's program beneficial for all ASSIST members.
