Security Officers Proceed With Lawsuit

Three security officers in Washington, D.C. have filed a lawsuit against their employer for alleged sexual harassment by their supervisor. The suit claims the three were discriminated against based on their gender and by creating a hostile working environment.

The suit stems from claims that the officer�s supervisor regularly spoke to them disrespectfully, threatened them, yelled at them, and called them names derogatory to females. They allege that male officers were not treated in such a manner.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia found that sufficient evidence for a jury to decide liability may be attached.

The court decision was that when a hostile work environment is created by a supervisor with authority over the employee, the employer may be held vicariously liable.
