LEAPS
Dallas
Walt Roberts, Chairman
On March 26 we had a great round table discussion and formed new committees to attack membership, training and Health and Welfare issues. There were about 50 in attendance and thanks to Dave Clines and Kathy McReynolds at TIS, we had lunch. LEAPS in Dallas is going through some growing pains and re-structuring as far as our training is concerned. We hope to have the new format out by the ASSIST/LEAPS Security Symposium June 24. This even has grown larger each year and has gained support from Security Managers and Law Enforcement not only in Dallas but the Metroplex. This year we hope to introduce a new tool that will make security officer workshops more convenient, allowing them to receive updated training.
In the last issue you read about Officer Pennington with Smith helping to apprehend some home invasion robbers. At the Security Symposium there will be more officers honored in response to their hard work and cooperation with the Dallas Police Department in effecting arrests. The board of directors and company members feel that more published events and acknowledging officers like Pennington will bolster the program and entice more officers to be involved.
The executive board (pictured left to right) Dallas Police Officer Keith Allen, Walt Roberts, Larry Reagan, Lisa George, David Clines and Dallas Police Chief Brian Harvey will be meeting and adding more cities in the Metroplex in months to come.
