ASSIST AND THE SECURITY PROFESSION IN TEXAS

As we try to improve our quality of services through training and other methods, tragedy strikes our security family.

On Jan. 2 Officer Vite was killed while performing his duties as a professional security officer for Merchants Security. Our sincere condolences to the Vite family and to Mike Garcia and his fine organization. There is a saying that something positive has to come out of something negative. Due to this great loss, I saw the positive side also. ASSIST was able to help this family within days after their loss. In a matter of speaking, it was so easy for us to deal with the situation because we were dealing with a professional officer and a professional company. We didn�t have to wait for weeks to be able to verify all the necessary information needed in order for us to make a decision to award money.

This is the result of our members being as professional as you can be. I hope that when security officers read this column that they see the importance of following all state mandated guidelines, because in the end it could be you, that suffers a loss.

With that in mind, ASSIST offers supplemental insurance to our members and any security officers employed in Texas. The rate of $26 per year for a $10,000 policy is simply unheard of. Take the time to view our website and see for yourself how cheap it is to protect your family.
