Wanted: A Better Wanted List
From the Wall Street Journal: Although the FBI says it wants to shape up, its wanted posters for the 22 worst terrorists is embarrassing and outdated. Osama bin Laden, the most notorious terrorist in the world, is simply wanted for bombing U.S. embassies and other terrorist attacks. Not one of the 22 wanted posters mention September 11, though federal officials recently said Khalik Shaikh Mohammed was the mastermind of those attacks. His poster calls him a Kuwaiti citizen, but Kuwait claims he is not.
Meanwhile, the bureau still lists (and, presumably, is still looking for), Mohammed Atef. Atef was reportly killed by smart bomb in Afghanistan. Theres an X right here, said President Bush, pointing to Atefs picture during a December meeting with reports, but the FBI must have missed that.
The State Department and the FBI lists contain a total of 22 names. Yet al Qaedas brain trust is reportedly 42 people - with six now dead and four captured. The other ten of the brain trust is not on the list.
