Fast response by security officers credited with interrupting burglary, arrest of
suspect
Security execs cite as example of Verified Response

DALLAS, Texas - Quick response by security officers responding to an Aug. 3, early-morning alarm call at a Singleton Boulevard supermarket under Dallas new Verified Response Policy is being credited for interrupting a burglary-in-progress and the apprehension and arrest of one suspect.
According to Bob Kenney, president of Security and Investigations Group, his company received a call from a Sonitrol alarm dispatcher at 5:13 a.m. of a likely intrusion into the closed food market. Under a cooperative agreement with Able Security and Investigations for faster geographical coverage for clients, his dispatcher gave the call to Able Security Officers Sinkfield and Garcia who were rolling within five minutes and arrived on-scene eight minutes later.
Having verified from security officers that an actual burglary occurred, the Dallas Police Department dispatched their officers on a higher-priority basis under the VR protocols and they were soon on the
scene, along with the markets key holder. Officers entered the building and performed a thorough search, but found no one. However, Garcia spotted two people on the roof of the building. Moments later, one suspect was taken into custody.
This is just another excellent example of how teamwork between alarm companies, security companies and police departments can work under a good Verified Response Policy, said Walter Roberts, president of Able Security and Investigations. Valuable police resources are conserved and better directed at actual verified burglaries rather than chasing down false alarms which account for around 98 percent of all alarm calls.
Bob Kenney adds that, Prior to Verified Response, and because of a huge demand for services, it frequently took Dallas police officers from 45 minutes to two hours to answer the many alarm calls they
received, and the suspects were usually gone with whatever they intended to steal. Under Verified Response, were actually interrupting burglaries and more frequently apprehending suspects at the scene which, in turn, certainly makes it easier to make cases against them, and take them out of circulation.
Recent statistics compiled by a city of Dallas commission monitoring the effectiveness of Verified Response indicate
Dallas security companies responding to burglary calls under the new VR protocols generally arrive at the scene of the alarm within 15 to 18 minutes.
