Building Our Membership BaseDave Scepanski

Were shaping the future of the Security Industry in Texas

The only limitations we have are the ones we place upon ourselves

ASSIST is a member-driven organization, and it is of paramount importance that we grow our membership base to increase revenues, improve profitability, accelerate cash flow and enhance the quality of membership services. I recently initiated an aggressive marketing campaign targeting new security companies in Texas. Now I am asking each one of you to do your part enroll at least one new member this year, and signup key-staff members as Associates.

Legislative Representation: Our Voice is Being Heard
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, dedicated and committed people can change an industry. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has! We will have our Legislative Committee in place no later than August 1st if you would like to serve on the committee please notify your chapter president as soon as possible.

ASSIST has been instrumental in driving legislative change to improve our industry. In 2001 we spearheaded the passing of a law, which imposes strict penalties for Impersonation of a Security Officer or a Security Company.

Our current focus is on legislative initiatives for the 2003 session regarding assault of a security officer (Class A Misdemeanor), Murder of a Security Officer (Capital Offense), and not returning security officer uniforms (Class B Misdemeanor).

Current Industry News: We Stay Connected So You Stay Connected
Keep informed of industry news, current legislation, and industry trends through our newsletters, Chapter meetings, annual State Convention and the ASSIST website.

Embrace Change
It is important to move forward and not get lost in the past. What worked ten years ago, or even two years ago, may now be old-hat just consider the computer industry and the dot.coms. As you may have noticed the Executive Board and I are developing and implementing a variety of improvement initiatives in a sincere effort to improve and build our organization. To stay successful and move ahead we must always look for ways to change for the better.

Get Involved and Make a Difference
With your help and support we will create the largest and most powerful association of security professionals in Texas. The strength of ASSIST is the ability of many security industry professionals to achieve collectively what would be impossible to do individually. Please become involved in your organization.

Please feel free to call me personally at (915) 751-6811 if you have any questions, concerns or ideas.

Sincerely,

Dave Scepanski
ASSIST President
