Recognizing the
good
By Henry Clemons
Able Security & Investigations, Inc.
It has come to my attention that in the past few weeks we (Able Security & Investigations, Inc.) have had two of our officers distinguish themselves during the course of their duties. We all know Security Officers get enough of the bad publicity but I am here to tell you many officers stand out everyday and go unrecognized.
On March 22, Corp. Dallas Tillman, Able Security & Investigations, Inc., while working a bank in the North Dallas area observed a suspicious individual enter the bank. Tillman then asked the individual to remove some of his attire that could have been concealing a weapon. The individual then requested to visit a bank officer and Tillman escorted the bank official and the individual into a office remaining conspicuous to both outside the office. When the individual departed the bank the bank official contacted both the Dallas Police Department and the F.B.I. Upon their arrival agents from both agencies commended Corporal Tillman for a job well done. Both agencies stated the actions of Corporal Tillman might have stopped a robbery.
On April 5, while on routine patrol of a South Dallas Apartment community Sergeant (Sgt.) Allen Rudin saw smoke bellowing from the balcony of an apartment. He immediately contacted his dispatcher by radio and requested fire and emergency personnel. While on the radio, Sgt. Rudin could not get a response from the apartment where the smoke was coming from. Sgt. Rudin entered the apartment finding two males sleeping. He woke the first one with no problem, however the second individual was not responding and his hand was burning. Sgt. Rudin assisted him in getting on his feet and helped him outside. At that point Sgt. Rudin began clearing the adjoining apartments of residents.
These two officers were observant, conscience and utilized their training. Able is fortunate to have these two officers working for us. The other thing I would like to mention is many security officers go to work everyday rain or shine. They put on a uniform, badge and leave their families; the difference is, in many cases these officers are Americas first line of defense and get little recognition. For all you officers out there, thank you!
