ASSIST Membership
All about connecting

Membership in ones professional association has always been one important sign of a dedicated professional, and this is certainly true for security service companies, their employees, and our vendors. But, for our unique types of businesses and our partners, it is much, much more.

Being a valued member of ASSIST means being connected to a network of vital information and opportunities as well as positive action concerning our profession at the local, state, and national levels of government, business communities, and news organizations.

When you join or renew your membership in ASSIST, you are connected to reliable and convenient sources of news, career information, and knowledge bases important to your success, and which among other benefits, include:

  • Notice of proposed legislation and regulations

  • Updates or changes in industry-specific law and legal decisions

  • Insurance and other benefits available only to members

  • New products and services for companies, their employees, and customers

  • Continuing education at special prices

  • Certification requirements/assistance

  • Professional operations and practices

  • Vendor opportunities

  • Calendar reminders/information about state and local trade shows and meetings

  • Professional product/equipment updates, accessories, and recalls

  • Training and education

  • Opportunities for highlighting exceptional actions by officers or companies

  • Fund for Fallen Officers

  • Tips on customer service and customer satisfaction responses

The Texas Legislature will meet in January for its every-other-year session, and will be considering a number of bills and regulations concerning our profession from Verified Response to certification standards for security officers. ASSIST is not only your voice in Austin, but is your connection to what important changes are being proposed that impact your businesses and your career.

Whether you are an individual officer, an industry vendor, or a security service firm, if you are not already a member of ASSIST, we invite you to get connected today by taking a moment to go to our Web site at: www.assisttexas.org/why.shtml. You can also call (832) 274-1079 or email us at [email protected] for more information.

ASSIST connects with Texas Consulting Group

In conjunction with our ongoing efforts to monitor information concerning our profession as well as tell our story and be an effective influence and advocate for our profession, we are pleased to announce that we have retained the public relations and public affairs firm, Texas Consulting Group, to assist us in working more closely with the news media, elected officials, associations within our industry, law enforcement organizations, and business and trade associations representing our client bases.

Our key contacts with the Dallas-based firm will be Tina Peyton and John Weekly, both with considerable experience in everything from working with candidates and campaigns to public relations, public affairs, issues management, and business/association consulting and communications.

In addition to their focus on working with the media and various interest groups, they will also be working with our association on publications, our Web site, training, membership communications and retention, and programs for attracting new members.

As you have ideas or suggestions about possible news stories, articles youd like to see, or information you feel might be helpful to them, please feel free to contact ASSIST and well be glad to pass the word along.

Meanwhile, join us in welcoming them aboard.
