ASSIST and its members owe a great deal of appreciation to Michelle Ellis and Worth Casualty Insurance (Telephone 866-469-6784 Ext. 1610). She and her company stepped up and paid for the printing of 42,000 information pocket cards for police officers in the state.
When North Texas Regional President, Kathy McReynolds presented the cards to Chief David Kunkle of the Dallas Police Department, Dave Scepanski and Mike McGregor were fortunate enough to attend. The chief understands the importance of getting the right information in the hands of his officers. Additionally, Deputy Chief Brain Harvey is trying to see that all Dallas Police officers will receive additional training on the use of the information.

South Texas Alamo Assistant Chief David Head and President Pete LaBonte.
At the last bureau meeting both the board and the DPS investigators seemed excited about this new tool to help all law enforcement agencies understand some of the professions guidelines and laws. Many people let ASSIST know what a great idea this was. Two years ago Cliff Grumbles asked about an information card. So, great idea Cliff!
Again, thanks to Michelle and Worth Casualty for the generous contribution and seeing that the immediate need was met.
The next step is to get these in the hands of officers. Many colleagues consider this is as important as getting them to the police officers. Having the information in the hands of security officers when dealing with a law enforcement officer may help in many situations. Should a security officer be assaulted, having the proper section of the penal code, can make the arrest a simpler ordeal.
