ASSIST 2005 CONVENTION
Dallas, Texas

The 2005 Annual ASSIST Convention is just around the corner. As the President of the Host Region, I would like to personally invite you to join us in Dallas from Sept. 28 through Oct. 2. If you have not registered, I encourage you to do so today! You can register online or you can pick up a registration form at your local Regional meeting.

This years convention will be held at the Omni Dallas Park West. The Omni Hotel is a 4 star hotel conveniently located in North Dallas. It is just a short drive from DFW Airport and Love Field. We have arranged for complimentary shuttle service to and from both airports. Please contact Kyle Parks at [email protected] or Mike McGregor at [email protected] and let them know your transportation needs. Special room rates of $89.00 per night have been arranged for not only the dates of the convention but you can also take advantage of these rates three days before and three days after the convention dates. The room rates for this hotel are normally $189.00 per night. We have made these special arrangements so you can take advantage of some of the other events we have arranged in conjunction with the convention this year.

Thursday events

Come early for the Golf Tournament Thursday morning. The Golf Tournament will be begin with an 8:00 Tee time. Lunch and drinks will be provided! If you cant hit a ball, maybe the Trinity Shootout Competition is where you want to be Thursday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. The shooters will compete for some great prizes including several handguns, a shotgun, knives, watches and shooting supplies! Dont miss this great event held at Elm Fork Shooting Park on the Trinity River!

After a full day of golf or shooting, join us poolside at the Omni Hotel for a welcome reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Beginning at 7 p.m. join us for Casino Night in the Ballroom at the Omni. The cover charge includes chips to get you started! Games include Blackjack, Texas Holdem and Roulette. Cash Bar provided. There will be a host of great prizes!

End your evening with the legendary Hospitality Suite where the real business is done located in the Presidential Penthouse Suite on the beautiful 12th Floor overlooking the city.

Friday events

Begin your morning with a great breakfast offered at a discount rate in the hotel restaurant. Spouses and guests have the opportunity to go shopping at the widely acclaimed and unique Sam Moon Trading Company in the morning. In the afternoon, its off the Grapevine Mills Mall. Grapevine Mills is a one of a kind outlet mall offering something for everyone! Transportation is provided at no cost to these great shopping destinations.

CE classes will begin and for the first time, we will offer two different classes in which you can choose from during the same hourly periods. This will allow you to pick and choose those classes that interest you the most while making the best use out of your valuable time while at the convention.

We have revamped the schedule on Friday to include a Legislative Luncheon instead of the Presidents Award luncheon. Lunch will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Be sure and join us and get to know your state representatives as well as become more informed about issues of concern and interest. CE classes will continue until 2:45 p.m. Meanwhile, your spouse or guest can continue shopping at Grapevine Mills Mall, relax by the pool or workout in the fitness center!

The annual Business Meeting will begin at 2:45 Friday afternoon. This has been moved from Saturday mornings to allow greater participation by you, the members of ASSIST. This year, elections will be held for the State Officer Positions in addition to other business that is handled on a yearly basis. The newly elected officers will be announced Friday evening during the Presidents Award Dinner and Dance. This is an event you will not want to miss. This Semi-Formal event will include special awards, honors, flag presentations, dining and dancing with live music. This event will be held in the main ballroom of the Hotel. Of course, the night is not over yet! Come on up to the Hospitality Suite and join us for the after party, party!

Saturday events

Wake up in your beautiful luxury room, stroll through the beautiful marble floors on the main floor and over to the restaurant for a great breakfast. After breakfast, its off to your choice of CE classes for the morning. After the classes are over, stay for lunch and take advantage of the discount tickets available for the State Fair of Texas. Complementary transportation to and from the State Fair will be provided. If you are unable to stay with us for a visit to the stay fair, we have arranged for the classes to end in plenty of time for you to catch a flight back home. Of course, let us know and we will make sure you get to the airport with free transportation to the airport.

A closing note

This years program is beneficial to anyone involved in Security. From the guest speakers, which include State Senators, State Representatives, Cliff Grumbles the Manager of the Private Security Bureau, the Director of Homeland Security, Mayors and Police Chiefs from across the State. The opportunity to put faces with names and establish relationships to move the Security Profession forward are extraordinary. The CE Classes are designed to maximize your time and provide you with information that you can use right away to make a difference in your business The Hotel accommodations and the entertainment during the convention are first class!

Dont miss out on the fun, education and networking opportunities at the 2005 Annual Convention in Dallas!

See you there!

Bob Kenney
