Shaping Legislation for Private Security and Investigation Industries

About Page

Legislative Arm of the private security and private investigation industries.

ASSIST has maintained a vigorous role in shaping the regulatory environment for the private security and private investigation industries at the State Capitol in Austin since 1970. The efforts of ASSIST, its board, members, and legislative teams has allowed this industry to operate in its current state. ASSIST actively study, fight for, and against numerous bills regarding legal rights and governing regulations of Texas security officers and private investigators.

What we do:

ASSIST actively study numerous bills, in detail, during legislative sessions to ensure they are promoting the best interests of private security and private investigators in Texas. We are always working with our legislators to educate them about the importance of the needs of private security and private investigators and how they benefit public safety.

Collaboration efforts with regulators, The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Private Security Advisory Committee, ensure that the board rules reflect the legislative intent of the laws governing private security and private investigators.
