LEAPS CHAPTER
DALLAS,
TEXAS
On Feb. 8, 2009, the Dallas Chapter of LEAPS elected its officers for 2009.
The following are the results of the election:
LEAPS Liaison Dallas Police
Department: Senior Cpl. Keith Allen
Chairperson: David W. Clines, Texas Industrial Security, Inc. Vice President
Vice Chairperson: Walt Roberts, Able Security President/Owner
Treasurer: Lisa George, Weiser Security Vice President-Marketing
Secretary: Tim McClure, Able Security Operations Manager
Larry Reagan of Securitas was appointed to chair the training committee.
Early in 2009 the board set as its goal to film eight LEAPS workshops for the purpose of making them more available to all employees of member companies. It is the goal of LEAPS to educate as many Security Officers as possible through the efforts of Senior Cpl. Keith Allen who conducts the Workshops. Vice Chair Walt Roberts supplied sound and video equipment, allowing Secretary Tim McClure to film eight workshops between August and December 2009. The videos are presently being edited and produced by the Media Center of The Dallas Police Department. If all goes well, we should have three to four workshops available to member companies in February 2010. This will be a great opportunity for our Chapter and it’s members.
In December 2009, the LEAPS board will meet with PSTN to discuss producing additional training videos for the Dallas LEAPS Chapter. Members completing eight workshops receive a LEAPS patch to wear on their uniforms and a certificate of completion. We anticipate 15 to 20 Security Officers will complete all 8 classes in mid-December. Once we complete the video production of the workshops, it will be possible to expect 200 plus officers completing the workshops in 2010. We hope this is only the tip of the iceberg for 2011.
Our second goal for 2009 is to increase the membership by 25 members before the second quarter of 2010.
All in all, 2009 has been an important and productive year for the members of Dallas LEAPS!
