UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS AND THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE TO LAUNCH NEW CERTIFICATE PI PROGRAM

DENTON
– The Professional Development Institute of the University of North Texas is preparing to launch the Certificate in Professional Private Investigations program in the spring of 2010 in Dallas and Houston, according to Executive Director Dr. Scott Belshaw. The program teaches investigative skills that are beneficial to becoming a successful private investigator. The curriculum offers 200+ hours of instruction broken down into individual classes. Every program is taught by professional faculty, attorneys and field practitioners. Upon successful completion, attendees will be awarded a Certificate in Professional Private Investigations from the Professional Development Institute of the University of North Texas.

Topics covered include:

• Foundations of Private Investigation and Professional Ethics
• Legal Aspects of Private Investigations In Texas
• Investigative Techniques & Research
• Surveillance & Undercover Operations
• Criminal Investigations
• Civil/Insurance Investigations
• Domestic and Family Investigations
• Pre-employment/Background/Corporate Investigations
• PI Practice Management
• Special Topics in Private Investigations
• Process Server Training Program

The program is for anyone interested in P.I. training, according to Dr. Belshaw. Others who might benefit are loss prevention agents, SIU investigators, claims adjusters, lawyers and paralegals, investigators in legal, corporate, financial or retail settings, police officers and pocket card holders seeking formal training.

Program candidates must have a high school diploma (or GED), be fluent in English, possess a working knowledge of computers and the internet, and have online access for computer-based proficiency testing. The entire program is only $3,995 and includes all materials and fees. Classes will be held on Friday nights and Saturdays (with two 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday sessions). The program takes less than five months to complete, and attendees must enroll in the entire program to earn the certificate. For more information, visit the program’s website at http://legal.pdi.org or call Program Manager Tami Russell at 866.374.0876 or email her at trussell@pdi.org.
